What is Happy Wheels?
Happy Wheels is a physics-driven side-scroller created by Jim Bonacci and published by Fancy Force. Players steer deliberately clumsy racers — a man in a rocket-powered wheelchair, a father pedalling a bicycle with his son, a businessman on a Segway — through fan-made obstacle courses packed with spikes, saws, harpoons and other lethal traps.
Ragdoll Physics
Momentum, weight and flailing limbs decide every jump, landing and last-second save.
Full Level Editor
Place terrain, hazards, vehicles, triggers and tokens, then publish your course to the browser.
Community Browser
Sort millions of player levels by rating, plays and freshness, with featured and daily picks.
Vehicles & Racers
Ten racers, each bound to a vehicle with its own speed, balance and failure modes.
The game began as a 2010 browser release and became a landmark of the Flash era thanks to its level editor and its enormous community library. The Steam edition keeps the same ragdoll physics and dark cartoon humour while adding controller support, an ad-free experience and an interactive level browser that surfaces fresh player submissions every day.

Happy Wheels FAQ
Is Happy Wheels coming to Steam?+
Yes. An official Steam version is listed with a planned release date of September 21, 2026, and the store page shows it as coming soon. The Steam edition is described as ad-free and adds controller support plus an interactive level browser. Because the game had not launched at the time of writing, treat any feature list as subject to change and check the store page again closer to release.
Is Happy Wheels free to play?+
The original Happy Wheels experience was free in the browser, and the JavaScript version hosted on the developer’s official site can still be played at no cost. The upcoming Steam release is a separate paid product with an ad-free experience and added features. If you only want to try the game today, the official browser version is the zero-cost route.
How many characters are in Happy Wheels?+
There are ten playable racers: Wheelchair Guy, Segway Guy, Irresponsible Dad, Effective Shopper, Moped Guy, Lawnmower Man, Explorer Guy, Santa Claus, Pogo Stick Guy and Helicopter Man. Each racer is bound to a specific vehicle, and that vehicle — not a stat sheet — decides how the character handles. Choosing the right racer for a level type matters far more than any ranking.
How do I find the best community levels?+
Open the Level Browser and sort by rating or play count rather than browsing the newest uploads. Featured levels are hand-picked by the developers and are usually polished and fair, while the daily submission feed is where you find fresh maps. If you want a specific challenge, search community lists for impossible levels or classic browser-era maps, which remain the most-played courses in the game.
Can I make my own levels?+
Yes. Happy Wheels ships with a full level editor. You lay out terrain, place hazards and interactive objects, set tokens and a finish line, then test the course from the player view before publishing it. Published levels appear in the community browser where other players can play and rate them, which is how the library grew past five million submissions.
What are the default controls?+
On desktop you move and lean with the direction keys, use the action key to accelerate or raise a vehicle part, and press the eject key to launch the racer off the vehicle. The Steam edition adds controller support, and mobile builds use on-screen touch controls. Eject timing is the single most important control skill, because a well-timed eject clears gaps a vehicle cannot.
Are there secret levels or glitches?+
Classic community levels hide alternate routes, token placements and shortcut jumps, and speedrunners rely on physics exploits such as wall boosts and momentum glitches. Many older “secret level” stories are community legends rather than confirmed content, so this wiki separates verified routes from creepypasta. The safest rule is to treat anything without a reproducible video as unconfirmed.
Does Happy Wheels have achievements?+
The Steam store page did not list an achievement system when this wiki was written, and Steam discussions show players actively asking for achievements. That means completion tracking is currently limited to in-game goals such as reaching the finish line and collecting tokens. Achievement support could still be added before or after launch, so check the store page for the latest feature list.
